The device is supposed to emit a powerful electromagnetic frequency wave that repels rodents and insects. It also emits waves through the wires in the walls to repel critters from coming in that way as well. I don't have any rodent problems but every now and the the rain can drive in some ants. I plugged this device up near our pantry, because that's were these ants tend to go. Since plugging it in, I have not seen any ants. I'm nit sure if it's because of the device, but regardless I'll take it. I have seen some reviews say it works for them for rats/mice. I'm still using this device to see if that is why I don't see anymore ants. My opinion on it is still kind of up in the air. I received this item free or at a discounted price in exchange for my honest opinion.
